2026-2027 TRYOUTS
​
Round 1 - Video Submission Deadline: March 7th, 2026 at 11:59pm

Round 2 - In-Person by Invitation: May 1st-2nd, 2026

VIDEO TRYOUT REQUIREMENTS
​
Each applicant should submit (1) video highlighting their cheerleading skills.
This should include an introduction, jumps, stunts, tumbling, and showmanship (4 8-counts).
​
Videos will not be viewed without a completed registration form successfully submitted. Submissions can be downloads or Youtube clips. Please use videos from the past nine months, that include skills that you can still complete on dead mat/basketball floor. We will require demonstrations of these skills during the in-person portion of our tryouts.
Video Introduction the following:
​Name, Age, Hometown
Upcoming Class (fr.-so.-jr.-sr.-transfer)
Primary/Secondary Stunt Position​
Answer each question in 1-3 sentences.
​
1. Why do you want to be on this team, specifically?
2. What does being a dependable teammate look like to you in-season and off-season?
3. How do you respond when a coach ask you to change something you've been doing for years?
4. What is a skill that you are currently inconsistent in, and what specific steps are you taking to make it consistent?
Jumps:
One (1) Single Jump (your best jump)
Three (3) Jump Combo (must have variety; i.e. hurdler double toe)
Tumbling:
Tumbling is MANDATORY for this program! (Highest skill you can complete with no assistance)
Highest Standing Tumbling
(ToeTouch BHS, Standing Tuck, Toe Touch Tuck, Multiple BHS to Tuck or Higher)
Highest Running Tumbling Pass
(two or more consecutive back handsprings; Tuck or higher preferred)
Specialty Tumbling Pass
(punch fronts, whips, arabians, etc.)
Stunting:
Applicants should make it known what position they excel in and should showcase sound technique and execution. If an applicant can stunt in multiple positions, please include examples of this in the clips as well. Stunting should include your most difficult skills. Straight up skills are accepted. Multiple body positions, spinning, switch ups, and inversion skills are preferred. ​​
Cheer/Motions/Dance:
One (1) Cheer using our colors/mascot while demonstrating your skills
Morgan, Morgan State. MSU.Bears, Orange, Blue, and/or White.
OR​
At least (4) 8-counts of a Dance (w/appropriate music- no suggestive language or explicit lyrics)
If chosen to proceed to the In-person process, you will receive an invitation on or before 3/15/2026.
Participants will also be evaluated for scholarship opportunities during this process. Those decisions will come after final team selections.
